Traveling The Lower 48 States can be a lot of fun. What time of year would be best to do this? I can tell you from experience that almost anytime is good. Especially if you like the winter months.
Personally, I prefer the warmer climate as you might know if you have read any of my other posts. But winter can be a lot of fun as well. I am not a snow skier. I prefer water skiing. But I realize there are many snow skiers out there and for you guys and gals the sky is the limit as far as places to enjoy good snow skiing! There are sometimes some challenges with car traveling in the winter months. The roads can get a bit dangerous. But if you have a very good set of all season tires and you are not caught in any heavy snowfall then you should be good to go.
Traveling The Lower 48 States from Oregon to Maine traveling up north is so fun. With so very many nice places to visit and very hospitable people to meet you will enjoy yourself as you move across the country. I would plan a stop around the great lakes. There is so much to see and do there you might never leave the area. Plus, the people are very friendly too. The food is good and you can find almost any type of cuisine. You might consider a guide if you want to go camping at a place you are not familiar. Remember, there are plenty of bears out there. As well as mountain lions and other animals that really wouldn’t normally bother people but sometimes we can frighten them or even infringe on their territory. That is a reason for a guide or at least some sound advice from a local that you feel can caution you
